Automation Rule Fails to Run

An Automation Rule failed to execute against an Order. How do I diagnose the problem?

  1. Open the Order for which the Automation Rule failed to run.

  2. At the bottom of the Order, click Show change history. An explanation for the failure is displayed.

Attempting to Save an Action Displays Warning

A warning is displayed when I create or modify an Action and tried to save the Automation Rule.

Do not ignore this message. A problem exists with the Automation Rule. Review the rule's Actions and Filters, and then correct the errors.

Can Accounts Be Set on Shipping Services?

I have multiple shipping accounts for the same Carrier. Can I set the shipping account based on the Shipping Service that will be used?

Yes. You can set the account based on the Shipping Service. The Shipping account can be set late in the sequence.

Can the Printing of Packing Lists be Conditional?

I want the Packing List printed only if the Order has more than one line item.

In an Automation Rule, you can set a condition (in a Filter) that must be met before performing a specific Action. These instructions explain how to tell Descartes ShipRush Web to print the Packing List only if the Order has more than one line item:

  1. Display the Automation Rules page (SETTINGS > ACCOUNT SETTINGS > Automation Rules).

  2. Click Add Automation Rule. The Edit Automation Rule dialog is displayed.

  3. Click Add New Filter. The empty dropdown field is displayed.

  4. On the dropdown, under Order, select Order: Number of line items (rows).

  5. On the second dropdown, select more.

  6. In the field, enter 1.

  7. Click Add New Action.

  8. On the dropdown, under Other, select Print Packing List (near the bottom).

  9. On the second dropdown, select the type of Printing List to print.

  10. See Managing Automation Rules for details on completing the other areas of the Automation Rule.

Cheapest Rate is Not Displayed

In an Automation Rule, I selected Rate and set to cheapest (for an Action), but do not see my Rate.

This limitation is by design, because rates can change with any alteration to the Shipping screen, and Automation Rules only work from the initial information. Generally, Rate details are not persistent unless the Order has been shipped.

Regardless, the least expensive Rate option was selected. If you need to see your Rate, display the Order, and then click the Rate button (in the main, horizontal toolbar).
