Descartes ShipRush Total Shipping Protection provides peace of mind insurance coverage that reimburses you for the full sale price (“Order Value”) up to $10,000 with zero deductible, plus return shipping and reshipping, if your Shipment is damaged, lost, or stolen during transit. ShipRush Total Shipping Protection is powered by our insurance technology partner XCover.com. As it is primary insurance, it pays instantly based on XCover’s technology, which ensures 95% of claims are paid within 10 business days of the shipping date (or 3 days of claim notification) without waiting for carriers to declare a loss and without a requirement that you make your initial claim via the Carrier. Carriers also typically cover only the first $100 of your goods, based on the declared value only, and the claims and reimbursement process takes +28 days.
In summary, when your goods are lost, stolen or damaged, Total Shipping Protection:
Reimburses the Order Value (i.e., your sale price) for goods, starting from $1 and up to $10,000.
Reimburses your reshipping and return shipping costs.
Resolves claims quickly and pays instantly without waiting for carriers to declare a loss or make a claim.
Protects any shipment with any Carrier. Exceptions include firearms, perishables (except wine), pharmaceuticals, chemicals, cash, bullion, stones, securities, documents, contraband, and any items that breach ShipRush terms.

About the Insurer and XCover.com
XCover’s parent company, Cover Genius, is an insurance technology firm that has won multiple awards within the retail and insurance industries for its claim-handling technology. Insurance policies are sold by Cover Genius Insurance Services, LLC. The insurance is underwritten by Continental Insurance Company, a CNA company (CNA), Chicago, IL, and administered and sold by Cover Genius Insurance Services, LLC, a licensed agent of CNA.
With our insurance technology partner, XCover.com, we built Total Shipping Protection in response to users who:
Need speedier resolution and certainty for small claims that were previously handled by carriers
Make larger claims where traditional parcel insurance providers wait for carriers to declare a loss before acting (and also require shippers to first make a claim from the Carrier)
Enrolling in Total Shipping Protection (or Modifying Current Settings)
Total Shipping Protection (formerly Declared Value Coverage) is only available for US origination shipments. Coverage for non-US shipments can be acquired directly from the Carrier. See ShipRush Total Shipping Program Terms & Conditions.
Total Shipping Protection does not apply to return shipments. If a declared value is applied to a return Shipment (and Descartes ShipRush Web is set to use Descartes ShipRush coverage), the declared value for the return Shipment is passed to the Carrier. If the Carrier offers coverage, the Carrier's coverage will be set on the Shipment.
After shipping, Descartes ShipRust Web should prompt you to "Enable Total Shipping Protection." Simply click the link and follow the prompts. Optionally, you can enroll manually (see below).
To enroll in Descartes ShipRush Total Shipping Protection or modify your current settings:
Display the ShipRush Total Shipping Protection page (SETTINGS > ACCOUNT SETTINGS > Total Shipping Protection).
The ShipRush Total Shipping Protection page also includes the option for making a claim.Click Accept Total Shipping Protection terms and conditions; or click Edit, if available, to modify your Total Shipping Protection settings. The Total Shipping Program - Terms & Conditions dialog is displayed.
Read the Terms & Conditions, select I agree to terms and conditions, and then click Next. The Add Credit Card dialog is displayed.
Enter your contact and credit card information, and then click Next.
Continue through each dialog until a message informs you that the setup of ShipRush Total Shipping Protection is complete.

When you ship, Descartes Descartes ShipRush Web quotes the coverage for each Shipment.

Cost for ShipRush Total Shipping Protection
Domestic: 1.25% of Declared Value
International: 1.5% of Declared Value
Rates are shown in the Total Shipping Protection wording, available when you edit a Shipment, or when you set up Total Shipping Protection. With ShipRush Total Shipping Protection enabled, your goods are protected for their Order Value, from $1 to $10,000, if they are lost, damaged, or stolen.
Note: There is a minimum $15 claim value required for any coverage transaction. Setting a lower value on the shipping screen will automatically rate, charge, and insure for $15.

Understanding U.S. Postal Coverage Details When Using ShipRush USPS
To receive up to $100 of no-additional-charge coverage from USPS, leave the Shipment's Declared Value blank. Native USPS coverage greater than $100 is not available when using ShipRush USPS.
To use the 'free' coverage offered by the Carrier, leave the Declared Value field blank. Your package is automatically eligible for the full, default coverage provided by the Carrier. Thus, an entered value is not needed. If you enter a value, you are switched to the paid coverage.
Warning: When using this default/free coverage, you must submit claims directly to the Carrier, which can be both time-consuming and involved.
Making a Claim
You can make a claim starting from My.ShipRush.com or Xcover.com (our insurance technology partner).
Note: To make a claim outside of ShipRush Total Shipping Protection, contact the Carrier. In this case, only the Carrier can assist you with making claims, and Descartes ShipRush Web is not involved in the claim process and does not communicate with the Carrier.
Making a Claim Starting from My.ShipRush.com
To make a claim starting from My.ShipRush.com:
Display the Shipments page (SHIPMENTS > Shipped). You may need to click Back to see the SHIPMENTS menu.
Find the Shipment in the list for which you want to file a claim.
Copy the Shipment's Tracking #. You may need to scroll to see the Tracking # column. If the column is not shown, click Columns (at upper right), and then select Tracking # (under Shipment).
Display the ShipRush Total Shipping Protection page (SETTINGS > ACCOUNT SETTINGS > Total Shipping Protection).
Under Make a Claim, in Shipment Tracking #, paste or enter the Shipment's Tracking #.
Click Start new claim. You are redirected to our partner, XCover.com.
Using your ShipRush email address, login to XCover.com. If this is your first visit to XCover.com, you are prompted to create a password.
Enter the information to support your claim. The online claim form guides you through the process.
Click Submit.
Note: The dedicated claims team at XCover intends to complete 95% of claims within three days of claim lodgement. Once approved, XCover will send you an email and text message with a link to enter your bank details for payment.

Comparing ShipRush Total Shipping Protection to Carrier's Insurance
With the Carrier’s insurance there are two main considerations:

The first $100: Many carriers provide free coverage for the first $100. Their process may:
Take +28 days to complete.
Reimburse the input or wholesale costs (or the declared value, whichever is less).
Involve lengthy waits for loss to be declared.
Require cumbersome forms and documentary requirements. For instance, you are required to provide evidence of the sale and a breakdown of input costs for all goods in the Shipment. Shiprush Total Shipping Protection automates much of the process for all claims, pays-out based on Order Value (i.e., your sale price), and removes the need to claim from carriers.
Over $100: Most carriers offer an upgrade that has the same documentary requirements explained above. The payout amount is adjusted to pay only the input costs, meaning the amount paid is considerably less than the order value. Total Shipping Protection aims to complete 95% of claims within three days of filing.
ShipRush Total Shipping Protection - Changes from "Declared Value Coverage"
ShipRush Total Protection Shipping was formerly Declared Value Coverage, so there are several new and modified fields and names:
Declared Value Coverage: Provided by Shipsurance; this coverage is superseded by Total Shipping Protection.
ShipRush Total Shipping Protection: Provided by Cover Genius Insurance Services, LLC on XCover.com. Total Shipping Protection supersedes Declared Value Coverage. It ensures speedier claims resolution of any claim from $1 to $10,000 with independent adjudication that does not rely on the Carrier’s lengthy and difficult processes for loss declaration and claim payment.
Declared Value: When there was a Declared Value entered, Declared Value Coverage was included in your Shipment, and the rate was determined by the value. It is no longer used for any insurance purposes.
Order Value: This is used to set the amount of coverage in your Total Shipping Protection. If Total Shipping Protection is enabled and there is an Order Value, then insurance is added to each Shipment. You can change your Default Settings at any time.
Shipsurance: This is the provider of our deprecated Declared Value Coverage. You can still make a claim for shipments protected by Shipsurance.
