Using an Electronic Scale
To use an electronic scale in Descartes ShipRush Web:
Before opening the Shipping form, put the parcel on the scale. When the Descartes ShipRush form is displayed, the parcel weight is shown automatically in the Weight field.
If the shipment has multiple parcels, place the next parcel on the scale before choosing to add the next package. The weight of the next package is entered automatically once it is added to the Shipment.
Troubleshooting Scale Issues
To troubleshoot common electronic scale problems:
Confirm the scale is a supported model
If the scale is plugged into a USB hub or port splitter, disconnect it, and then plug the scale directly into the computer
Shut down the computer, and then restart it
Make sure no other scales are connected
Make sure that no other shipping software (or other software that uses the scale) is connected
If the above steps do not resolve the issue:
Shut down the computer
Disconnect all USB devices except the keyboard, mouse, and scale
Restart the computer.
Tip: If the issue is still not resolved, then the scale may be non-functional. Plug the scale into a different computer, and then use Descartes ShipRush Desktop or another application to read the scale. If the scale cannot be read, then it may be non-functional.

Troubleshooting: Scale Not Working in Chrome or Edge
If your scale is properly connected but not detected in ShipRush, your browser may be blocking access to the device. This is most commonly caused by the “Apps on Device” permission being set to Block.
Follow the steps below based on your browser.
Google Chrome
Chrome may block access to connected devices if the Apps on Device permission is disabled for ShipRush.
To resolve this:
Open Chrome Settings
Go to Privacy and security
Click Site settings
Open Additional permissions (or scroll down to find it)
Locate my.shiprush.com (if not in the list, please add https://my.shiprush.com/ to the allowed list)
-
Select Apps on device
If it is set to Block, change it to Allow
Refresh ShipRush and try using the scale again
Once this permission is set to Allow, the scale should start responding immediately without requiring a reconnect.
Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Edge uses similar device permissions and may also block scale access by default.
To resolve this in Edge:
Open Edge Settings
Go to Privacy, search, and services
Select Site permissions
Click All permissions
Open Apps on device
Click Add site if not yet added to the allowed to access other apps and services on this device.
Enter: https://my.shiprush.com/
Save the change and refresh ShipRush
Once this permission is set to Allow, the scale should start responding immediately without requiring a reconnect.
