New Features and Enhancements

FedEx Comprehensive Rating API Support and OneRate Enhancements

🟪 FedEx Comprehensive Rating API Support and OneRate Enhancements

ShipRush renewed the OneRate behavior to be able to reflect the enhanced logic of the new OneRate API logic of FedEx.

The new API can return either the best available rate or all applicable rates, depending on configuration. It can also automatically determine the most appropriate OneRate packaging type based on the shipment’s dimensions and weight.

Because this API behaves differently from the past FedEx implementation, ShipRush includes updates to both rating logic and the FedEx account configuration interface to fully support these capabilities while maintaining compatibility with existing workflows for you.

New: “FedEx Cheapest Option”

A new packaging option called FedEx Cheapest Option has been introduced in the FedEx OneRate settings.

When selected, FedEx will automatically:

  • Determine the most economical OneRate packaging type

  • Return the lowest available rate based on shipment dimensions and weight

This automatic packaging evaluation applies to the following OneRate packaging types:

  • FedEx Extra Small Box

  • FedEx Small Box

  • FedEx Medium Box

  • FedEx Large Box

  • FedEx Extra Large Box

Other packaging types must still be selected manually.

To maintain backward compatibility, users can still manually select a specific OneRate packaging type if preferred.

Rate Shopping Behavior

  • Rate Shopping always returns the lowest available rate, comparing both standard FedEx services and OneRate services.

  • When “Use FedEx One Rate® automatically when rating and shipping” is enabled, ShipRush compares standard rates with OneRate rates based on the configured packaging option.

Important Notes

  • If a OneRate packaging type is manually selected and does not match the shipment’s dimensions or weight, FedEx may return rates that are not fully representative of the shipment.

  • For the most accurate results, FedEx Cheapest Option is recommended, since it evaluates all eligible OneRate packaging types and returns the optimal rate automatically.

  • This option should be used together with Box/Other packaging type and the entered package dimensions so the system can properly evaluate the shipment.

Configuration Recommendations

  • When using Automation Rules, it is recommended to disable additional OneRate options and select “Show most economical option only.”

  • This configuration is also recommended when shipments are rated or rate-shopped before processing, since it consistently returns the most economical shipping option.

  • If users want to evaluate all available services, including the fastest delivery options, the “Show all options” setting should be used.

Resolved Issues

🟩FedEx Saturday Delivery – Standard Overnight

FedEx Standard Overnight is now correctly included in the list of services available for Saturday Delivery.

Previously, this service was missing from the Saturday delivery service list. It is now available during rate calculation and shipment creation where Saturday delivery is supported.

🟩FedEx Desktop – Missing Account Contact Information

Fixed an issue where FedEx accounts added through the ShipRush setup wizard displayed empty contact information in ShipRush Desktop.

What changed

Address, contact name, phone number, and email information now correctly populate after completing the FedEx account setup process.

Reminder

FedEx Integration – Migration to REST APIs (Action Required at a Later Date, Beginning of 2026)

Upcoming required migration of FedEx integrations to the new REST APIs.
FedEx has announced the retirement of their legacy Web Services APIs, with a mandatory shutdown date of March 31, 2026. To remain compliant, ShipRush will be migrating all FedEx integrations to the FedEx REST APIs, which also use a new OAuth-based security protocol.

This change is required by FedEx and applies to all ShipRush users shipping with FedEx.

Important: No Immediate Action Required

At this time, no action is required from users.

  • ShipRush will begin prompting users to migrate starting January 5.

  • The notification will appear directly within the ShipRush application as a UI pop-up / in-app message.

  • Users should only take action after receiving this in-app notification.

  • No manual configuration changes are expected before this message is received.

What to Expect When You Are Notified

Once you receive the in-app notification, ShipRush will provide clear guidance on how to migrate your FedEx account. The process includes:

  • Updating your FedEx account to use the new REST APIs

  • Configuring the required OAuth authentication

  • Validating your FedEx credentials within ShipRush

Step-by-step instructions will be available in the following documentation:

Why This Change Is Required

FedEx is officially discontinuing their legacy Web Services integration in favor of REST-based APIs that offer improved security, performance, and long-term support. As a FedEx partner, ShipRush is required to move all users to this new integration to ensure uninterrupted shipping functionality.

Final Migration Deadline:
All FedEx accounts must be migrated by March 31, 2026. Users who do not complete the migration by this date will no longer be able to create FedEx shipments in ShipRush.

If you have questions, please refer to the documentation above or contact ShipRush Support.
