Setting Up Additional Packing List

You may need to print two types of Packing Lists simultaneously, using different templates, printers, and/or settings. This topic explains how to set up your second or Additional Packing List.

To set up an Additional Packing List:

  1. Display the Additional Packing List page (SETTINGS > ACCOUNT SETTINGS > Additional Packing List).


    To display information about a field or checkbox, position the cursor on the .

  2. Enable Additional Packing List: If selected, Descartes ShipRush prints the Additional Packing List, using the template, printer, and settings selected on this page.

  3. Auto print packing list: If selected, Descartes ShipRush prints the corresponding Additional Packing List with every shipping label. An alternative to auto-print is to print packing lists manually on the main shipping screen (singly or in a batch).

  4. Packing list template: Select a template to use for printing Additional Packing Lists. Templates vary in content and layout.

  5. Printing Method: Select a printing method for Additional Packing Lists: "Print to Laser/Injet", "ShipRush Cloud Print" (for thermal printers), or "Do not print". To use "ShipRush Cloud Print", download the ShipRush Web Toolbox. Click the Windows or Mac/OSX link, and then follow the instructions. The links are at the bottom of the Additional Packing List page if the Printing Method is "ShipRush Cloud Print".

  6. These options are available if the Printing Method is "ShipRush Cloud Print":

    • Printer Name: Select a printer. If Printer Name does not list any printers, press F5 to refresh the page. If printers are still not listed, position the cursor on the information icon (), and then follow the displayed instructions.

    • Printer Type: Select a Printer Type.

  7. Print Test Label: Click the link to send a test label to the printer.

  8. # of Copies: Enter the number of Additional Packing List copies to print.

  9. Darkness: This option is available if the Printing Method is "ShipRush Cloud Print". The entry specifies the darkness level of the printout. The default value is 10. To darken the printout, enter 13 or 15. To lighten the printout, enter 5 or 7.

  10. Horizontal Margin, inch:

    • The default entry is 0.

    • If the printout needs to move right or left on the label, try value 5 or 10.

    • Click Print Test Label to test the printout.

    • As needed, try entering a different value.

  11. Vertical Margin, inch:

    • The default entry is 0.

    • If the printout needs to move down the page, try value 5 or 10 for thermal printers, or 0.02 or 0.04 for laser printers or PDFs.

    • Click Print Test Label to test the printout.

    • As needed, try entering a different value.

  12. Rotate / Flip: If selected, ShipRush rotates the printout 90-degrees on laser printers or 180-degrees (prints upside down) on thermal printers.

  13. Download Labels as PDF: This option is available if the Printing Method is "Print to Laser/Inkjet". If selected, the label/Additional Packing List printout will be downloaded as a PDF file. The file can be opened later for printing, emailing, etc.

  14. Save Labels to Disk: This option is available if the Printing Method is "ShipRush Cloud Print". If selected, ShipRush will auto-save the labels. After selecting this option, select a file naming convention in the dropdown.



    To learn where the labels are stored, use the menu on the ShipRush Web Toolbox.

  15. Do Not Print: This option is available if the Printing Method is "ShipRush Cloud Print" and Save Labels to Disk is selected. If Do Not Print is selected, the labels/Additional Packing List will be saved to disk but not sent to your printer.

  16. Print one per parcel:

    • This option is applicable to Multi-Parcel Shipments (MPS) and should be selected when using integrated packing lists.

    • If selected, ShipRush prints a copy of the Additional Packing List for each parcel in an MPS. For example, ShipRush prints three copies of the Additional Packing List for a three-parcel shipment.

    • When the shipment is not a true MPS, such as through USPS or certain other carriers, each label is for a stand-alone shipment. Most MPS shipped by FedEx or UPS have a master tracking number.

  17. Logo Image: If selected, ShipRush adds the displayed logo or image to the Additional Packing List.

    • Upload image: To upload an image for this feature, click Upload image. Drag the image file to the box; or click Choose file, select the file, and then click Open. The selected image is displayed next to Logo image.

    • Remove image: To remove the image, click Remove image.
