Managing Email Notification Templates

The SETTINGS - Email Templates page can be used to create, copy, edit, and delete email notification templates.

The email notification templates are used by Descartes ShipRush Web when sending email notifications. They are not used by shipping Carriers.


To manage email notification templates:

  1. Display the Settings - Templates page (SETTINGS > ACCOUNT SETTINGS > Templates).


  2. In the Email Templates area, do one of the following;

    • To create a new email notification template from "scratch," click Add Template.

    • To create an email notification template based on an existing template, click copy (located next to the template name).

  3. The template editor is displayed. The template's Name is shown as "New Template" or includes "Copy of". Enter a unique Name for the template.


  4. To add a field to the template, first position the cursor at the desired location. Pressing ENTER moves the cursor to the next line. Click the field's title (located under Order or Shipment). The field is displayed at the cursor's location. Add additional fields, as needed.

  5. These options are available:

    • Display the editor full-screen: Click

    • Move a field: Double-click the field to select it, and then use cut-and-paste

    • Delete a field: Double-click the field to select it, and then press DELETE

    • Formatting: Click the corresponding button to select a formatting option (style, font style, font size, bold, italics, numbering, or bullet)

    • Insert an image, a table, a horizontal line, or a link: Click the corresponding toolbar button

    • Display the template's editable source code: Click Source

  6. To preview the template in your browser, click Preview Email.

  7. The delete, copy, and edit options are available for templates created in the editor.


Note: The base templates (provided by Descartes) can be copied, but cannot be modified or deleted.
