FedEx International MailService (FIMS)

FedEx International MailService® (FIMS) is a FedEx contract service. To use FIMS, you need a FIMS account. Please contact your FedEx representative for account information or see FIMS or Mail View® for additional information.

Notes:

FIMS and MailView are supported on laser and thermal printers. FIMS Standard and FIMS Premium shipments are not trackable, per FedEx.

FIMS is a separate service from FedEx Mail View. The information on this page is specific to FIMS.


Setting Up FIMS Account

You will need this information to set up FIMS:

  • Customer Number

  • Customer Code

  • Service ID

To set up a FIMS account:

  1. Click SETTINGS, and then click Add Carrier Account (top of screen). The Carrier Configuration dialog is displayed.

  2. On the Select a carrier dropdown, select FedEx International Mail Service v2. Click NEXT.

  3. Respond to the FIMS2 End - User Agreement dialog. Click NEXT.

  4. Fill-in the FIMS2 Shipping Information form. Click NEXT.

  5. Complete the setup wizard.


Service Options

FIMS offers these Service options, which you can select on the Editing Shipment form:

  • Standard FIMS

  • Premium FIMS

  • FIMS over 4.4 Pounds


Email Notifications

FIMS does not offer shipment email notifications for SmartPost® shipments. However, you can configure email notifications through Descartes ShipRush Web. Each notification includes the Tracking Number. Go to SETTINGS > FIMS account> Email.


Voiding Shipments

Voiding is not necessary. According to FedEx, you are only billed for shipments that are sent.


Dialing Up an FIMS Shipment

To dial up an FIMS shipment:

  1. Display the Editing Shipment form.

  2. On the From dropdown, select the FIMS account.

  3. On the Service dropdown, select Standard FIMS, Premium FIMS, or FIMS over 4.4 Pound.

Supported Printers

Direct Link labels can be printed on laser and inkjet printers, as well as supported Zebra thermal printers.
