Tip: See also Supported Scales, Using an Electronic Scale, and Troubleshooting Scale Issues.

Using an Electronic Scale

To use an electronic scale in Descartes ShipRush Web:

  1. Before opening the Shipping form, put the parcel on the scale. When the Descartes ShipRush form is displayed, the parcel weight is shown automatically in the Weight field.

  2. If the shipment has multiple parcels, place the next parcel on the scale before choosing to add the next package. The weight of the next package is entered automatically once it is added to the Shipment.

Troubleshooting Scale Issues

To troubleshoot common electronic scale problems:

  • Confirm the scale is a supported model

  • If the scale is plugged into a USB hub or port splitter, disconnect it, and then plug the scale directly into the computer

  • Shut down the computer, and then restart it

  • Make sure no other scales are connected

  • Make sure that no other shipping software (or other software that uses the scale) is connected

  • If the above steps do not resolve the issue:

  1. Shut down the computer

  2. Disconnect all USB devices except the keyboard, mouse, and scale

  3. Restart the computer.

Tip: If the issue is still not resolved, then the scale may be non-functional. Plug the scale into a different computer, and then use Descartes ShipRush Desktop or another application to read the scale. If the scale cannot be read, then it may be non-functional.
