Managing Freight Commodities

Descartes ShipRush Web can be used to build and customize the Freight Commodities available for export and freight (LTL) shipping. The following sections explain how to add, delete, export, and import Freight Commodities. See also Commodity and Freight Commodity Fields and Options and Managing Commodities.


Adding a Freight Commodity

To add a Freight Commodity:

  1. Click COMMODITY LIST in the main menu (at left).

  2. Click Add Freight Commodity (top of screen). The Editing Commodity page is displayed.


  3. Enter an H/U

  4. Select a freight Class.

  5. Enter a Description and an NMFC.

  6. Select a Piece Type.

  7. Enter the Total Wt.

  8. Enter the Piece Ct.

  9. To save your entries, click Back. The new Freight Commodity is now listed in the Commodity List.


Editing a Freight Commodity

To edit Freight Commodity:

  1. Click COMMODITY LIST in the main menu (at left). The Commodity List is displayed.

  2. In the Commodity List, double-click a line item. The Editing Commodity page is displayed for the selected Commodity. The Editing Commodity page also includes the Delete Commodity option (below the fields).

  3. Edit the fields, as needed.

  4. Click Back to save your changes.


Deleting a Freight Commodity

To delete one or more Freight Commodities:

  1. Click COMMODITY LIST in the main menu (at left). The Commodity List is displayed.

  2. Check the box (at far left) for each Freight Commodity that you want to delete.

  3. Click Delete (top of page).


Importing Commodities

To import Commodities into Descartes ShipRush Web:

  1. Click COMMODITY LIST in the main menu (at left). The Commodity List is displayed.

  2. On the Options menu, click Import. The "Drag files here" dialog is displayed.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • Drag the files into the dialog.

    • Click Choose File, select the file, and then click Open.

  4. This message may be displayed at the top of the Commodity List: "The commodity book import has started. Depending on the size of the file we are importing, it may take one to four minutes to import. Please check in a few minutes."


Exporting Commodities List to MS Excel Spreadsheet

To export the Commodities list to an MS Excel spreadsheet:

  1. Click COMMODITY LIST in the main menu (at far left). The Commodity List is displayed.

  2. On the Options menu, click Export Commodities.

  3. Click Open or Save as. The Commodities list is now in an MS Excel spreadsheet.
