ShipRush

Customs Forms

Descartes ShipRush prints two different customs forms:

  • Form 2976-A, aka CP72, aka "Large Form"

  • Form 2976, aka CN22, aka "Small Form"

Note: CN22 and CP72 forms include the invoice information on the label. In nearly all cases, additional invoices/documentation is not needed. Questions regarding what forms are required should please be directed to the U.S. Postal Service, which has a team of specialists available to assist. The U.S. Postal Service can be contacted at 1-800-ASK-USPS or at https://www.usps.com/business/international-shipping.htm.

Descartes ShipRush Discount Postage v2 Auto Form Selection

v2 will automatically pick the most appropriate available customs form. As the system is improved, forms that today may print large (e.g. CP72 on a piece of paper) will automatically move to the thermal printer, as the server infrastructure improves.

Example form selection as of January 2017:

  • Priority small flat rate box: Output to thermal printer

  • First Class: Output to thermal printer

  • Priority medium flat rate box: Output to paper printer

  • Priority 5lb: Output to paper printer

Descartes ShipRush will automatically select the proper customs form for your shipment. For example, a low value shipment to an APO may only be available on a CN22 form. Therefore, if you select CP72, Descartes ShipRush may prompt that it will be printed on a CN22. Conversely, a high value shipment to Germany may require a CP72, so if CN22 is selected, Descartes ShipRush may prompt that will be printed on a CP72.

Note: The number of copies that print depends on the destination country. At this writing, only one copy prints (and is needed) for Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, US Territories and FPO/APO, though this list is subject to frequent change by the USPS. Three copies print for other countries. As more countries move to 1-copy service, will automatically print only one copy to those countries. Therefore, the number of CP72 copies you receive after processing your label is the correct number to include with your shipment.
