Are past orders retrieved in a new setup of Descartes ShipRush Web?

Yes, the most recent two days of orders are retrieved.

Can Descartes ShipRush Web determine whether those "past" Orders have already been shipped?

Yes

Is Shift4Shop updated with Shipment information?

Yes, the tracking number is posted to Shift4Shop, and the Order is updated as "shipped."

To configure Shift4Shop:

  1. Navigate to Settings > General > Store Modules > API XML Web Service Integration.

  2. Check the box to enable the API within Shift4Shop.

No other settings need to be changed.
