ShipRush

DHL Ecommerce

DHL Global Mail (aka DHL Ecommerce) is supported for U.S. and Canada origination.

Notes:

Descartes ShipRush Web prints shipping labels and manifest documents for DHL Ecommerce shipments. At this time, shipping rates are not displayed.

DHL has a weekly maintenance window: every Sunday – 1:00pm to 2:15pm EST. This maintenance only affects international shipments; other services should still be available.

Setting Up DHL Ecommerce (AKA Onboarding)

To set up DHL Ecommerce in Descartes ShipRush Web, you need your Location ID (aka Pickup ID). If you have multiple pickup locations, each will have its own Location ID.

To obtain your Location ID:

  1. Please engage your DHLeC Regional Sales Manager (RSM).

  2. RSM will engage their DHLeC Solutions Engineer and Implementation Specialist regarding any changes.

  3. The Onboarding Form is generated by the Implementation Specialist and sent to the customer with the account information and FTP credentials.

  4. Once set up has been completed by DHL Ecommerce, send in your sample labels for the DHL Ecommerce services you use (including driver summary manifest and corresponding manifest, if applicable). This ensures that a close out was performed and you understand the end-of-day process.

  5. Please submit this material to your DHL Ecommerce technical resource or the Solutions Engineer - GMUS-Solutions: gmus-solutions@dhl.com.

  6. DHL Ecommerce will review and notify you of the status.

Label FROM Address Note

Descartes ShipRush Web prints the FROM address on domestic U.S. labels. However, for export labels, the FROM address is set in the DHL Ecommerce system and is not under the control of Descartes ShipRush Web. To change the FROM address on export/cross border labels, contact your DHL Ecommerce representative.

DDU and DDP Services

Parcel Direct Express has both DDU and DDP options:

  • Delivery Duties Unpaid: Relates to shipping across borders (export shipments). The shipper only pays for transportation only, not taxes and duties. The recipient needs to pay any duties and taxes that apply. For small parcels in B2C, this often means the recipient needs to go to a post office to pay any duties and receive the package.

  • Delivery Duties Paid: Means the shipper has paid (or will pay) for transportation and import duties and taxes. The package is handed over to the recipient without a need for the recipient to pay any fees.

These options are selected in the Payment area when Parcel Direct has been selected as a service.

International Shipping Details

When shipping internationally, be sure to perform Close Day in Descartes ShipRush Web at the end of shipping. Nothing will print, but the DHL Global Mail system needs this step.

C.O.D.

C.O.D. will show on the shipping label for export shipments (from U.S. to other countries). At this time, C.O.D. is not available for U.S. domestic shipping.
